Inspiring Young People Through Sport: Our Multi-Sport Holiday Club at Ampleforth College
Our Multi-Sport Holiday Club has always been built around a simple belief: sport can help young people grow in confidence, develop valuable skills, and create positive memories that stay with them long after the holiday has ended.
Now based at the stunning Ampleforth College, we are excited to offer children aged 7–16 an outstanding holiday experience within an inspiring school environment, supported by excellent sporting facilities, spacious grounds and a team of experienced coaches, teachers and activity leaders.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive and inspiring holiday club where every young person can enjoy sport, build confidence, develop new skills and feel part of a positive community.
We want every child attending our programme to leave feeling happier, more active and more confident than when they arrived.
More Than Just a Sports Camp
Our programme is not designed simply to fill the school holidays. It is carefully planned to give children and teenagers a varied, engaging and rewarding experience.
Through a broad programme of sports, games and team activities, participants are encouraged to challenge themselves, try something new and develop at their own pace. Some children may arrive with a strong sporting background, while others may be taking part in certain activities for the first time. Both are equally welcome.
The emphasis is on enjoyment, participation, progression and creating an environment where young people feel comfortable being themselves.
An Outstanding Venue
Hosting our holiday club at Ampleforth College allows us to provide an experience that feels genuinely special.
The College offers an impressive sporting environment, with extensive outdoor space and access to high-quality facilities suitable for a wide range of activities. This gives us the flexibility to deliver an exciting programme while adapting sessions to the age, ability and interests of each group.
The setting also allows children to enjoy being active in a spacious, secure and inspiring environment, away from the distractions of everyday routines.
A Varied Multi-Sport Programme
Our holiday club introduces young people to a broad selection of activities rather than focusing on one sport alone.
Depending on the programme, facilities and group needs, sessions may include tennis, football, netball, athletics, cricket, hockey, basketball, team games, challenges and other recreational activities.
This variety gives children the opportunity to discover new interests while developing transferable abilities such as agility, balance, coordination, communication and decision-making.
Older participants can enjoy more competitive and tactical activities, while younger groups benefit from accessible games, skill-building and plenty of movement. The programme is designed to remain age-appropriate without feeling too childish for teenagers or too demanding for younger children.
Confidence Through Participation
One of the most valuable outcomes of sport is the confidence that comes from taking part, improving and contributing to a team.
We create opportunities for children to experience success in many different ways. That may mean learning a new skill, helping a teammate, overcoming a challenge, taking on responsibility or simply having the confidence to join in.
Progress is not measured only by scores or results. We celebrate effort, resilience, kindness, teamwork and personal improvement.
Inclusive and Welcoming
Our club is open to children of different abilities, experience levels and sporting backgrounds.
Participants do not need to be highly experienced athletes. Our coaches are skilled at adapting activities so that everyone can take part, remain challenged and enjoy a sense of achievement.
We aim to create groups in which children feel supported rather than judged, while still providing appropriate opportunities for more experienced players to develop and compete.
Quality Coaching and Strong Leadership
The quality of the people delivering a holiday club matters enormously.
Our programme is led by experienced sports coaches, teachers and activity leaders who understand how to engage young people, organise purposeful sessions and maintain a safe and positive environment.
We combine structured coaching with enjoyable games and activities, ensuring that participants remain active and engaged without losing the fun that should sit at the heart of every school holiday.
Clear expectations, careful supervision and thoughtful planning support the safety and well-being of every child attending.
Developing Skills for Life
Sport teaches lessons that extend well beyond the court, pitch or athletics track.
Throughout the week, children are encouraged to communicate, cooperate, solve problems, manage both success and disappointment and take increasing responsibility for themselves and others.
These experiences can help young people develop resilience, independence, leadership and a stronger belief in their own abilities.
Friendship and Community
Holiday clubs are also about connection.
Children have the chance to meet new people, strengthen existing friendships and feel part of a wider group. Team activities create natural opportunities for communication and collaboration, while shared experiences help children form positive relationships.
Our ambition is to build a welcoming community in which children look forward to returning, families feel confident in the programme and every participant feels valued.
Creating Memorable Holidays
Above all, we want children to have a brilliant time.
The school holidays should be filled with energy, laughter, achievement and memorable experiences. Our programme balances quality coaching with fun competitions, group challenges, recreational activities and opportunities to celebrate progress.
For some children, the highlight may be discovering a new sport. For others, it may be making a new friend, winning a team challenge or achieving something they did not initially believe they could do.
Those moments are what make a holiday club truly meaningful.
Looking Ahead
The move to Ampleforth College represents an exciting new chapter for ABC Sports Clubs.
It gives us the opportunity to build on everything we have learned through our previous holiday programmes and create an even stronger experience for children aged 7–16 where friends can be made for life!
Our vision is to establish a high-quality Multi-Sport Holiday Club that families trust, young people enjoy, and the wider community can feel proud of.
At ABC Sports Clubs Ltd, we are committed to helping every child feel active, included, confident, and inspired.
